Preaching and teaching the Word of God
Statement of Faith
SCRIPTURE
I believe,
Firstly, The original Word of God is in Heaven. Secondly, The Lord God gave the Scriptures to the sons of men by telling and moving people what to write; this began with Moses at mount Sinai and ended with the apostles in the first century. Thirdly, As God caused the Scripture to be written for the world, so by his will he has preserved the same whole and entire.
(References: Exodus 34:27,28; Psalm 119:89; Luke 24:27; 2 Peter 1:21; 2 Timothy 3:16.)
GODHEAD
I believe,
Firstly, There is one God, and this God is three persons: Father, Son, Holy Ghost. Secondly, The LORD is eternal, holy, everlasting, omnipotent, sinless, just, merciful, long-suffering, and perfectly balanced. Thirdly, The LORD God hates sin and loves righteousness. Fourthly, God sees all things, knows all things, is before all things, and by him all things consist.
(References: Exodus 34:6,7; Matthew 28:19; Colossians 1:16,17; 1 John 5:7.)
JESUS
I believe,
Firstly, Jesus is God and the eternal Son of God, as well as Saviour, Lamb, Redeemer, and High Priest. Secondly, As the Messiah, Jesus was born of a virgin, fulfilling scriptural prophecy. Thirdly, Three days and three nights after shedding his sinless blood and dying on a cross for the sins of the whole world, Jesus resurrected from the lower parts of the earth and ascended into Heaven. Fourthly, The Son now sits at the right hand of the Father.
(References: Isaiah 7:14; John 20:28; Romans 10:5–13; Hebrews 1:2,3; 2:9; 3:1; 4:15; 8:1.)
SALVATION
I believe,
Firstly, By grace are we saved through faith, and that not of ourselves, it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. Secondly, To go to Heaven at death, a person must be forgiven of their sins by Jesus Christ and be born again spiritually, that is to say, born of the Spirit. Thirdly, Eternal life comes from the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.
(References: John 3:6,7; Romans 10:8–14; 1 Corinthians chapter 15; Ephesians 2:4–9; Colossians 1:12–14; Titus 1:2.)
HEAVEN
I believe,
Firstly, Heaven is where the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost dwell. Secondly, Heaven is a perfect place, beautiful and splendorous, where seraphims, cherubims, and angels worship God. Thirdly, Heaven is where a saved person’s spirit goes when the body dies. At the resurrection, a child of God will receive a sinless, glorified body.
(References: 1 Kings 8:30; Psalm 11:4; Acts 7:59,60; 2 Corinthians 5:6–8; Revelation 7:11,12.)
THE CREATION
I believe,
Firstly, The LORD, blessed be he, made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that in them is; he made the heavens also, and all the host of them. Secondly, God created all things by the Son, and for his pleasure they are and were created.
(References: Genesis 2:4; Exodus 20:11; Hebrews 1:2,10–12; Revelation 4:11.)
MANKIND
I believe,
Firstly, The LORD God formed the first man, Adam, from the dust of the earth, and he made the first woman, Eve, from Adam’s rib. Both were created without sin, though they eventually chose to disobey the LORD God by eating the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Secondly, Because of Adam and Eve’s disobedience, all people have a sin nature and require salvation, forgiveness of sins to enter Heaven.
(References: Genesis chapters 2,3; 1 Corinthians 15:22.)
HELL
I believe,
Firstly, Hell is a subterranean place, a pit of no return, a place full of thick darkness; a place of hopelessness, gloom, heat, and fire; a place to which are attributed depths, gates, and bars. Secondly, Hell is where the soul of every lost person goes when the body dies.
(References: Job 10:21,22; 17:16; 24:19; Psalm 88:10; Isaiah 38:10,18; Luke 16:19–31.)
LUCIFER
I believe,
Firstly, Lucifer was perfect in his ways till iniquity was found in him. Since that time he is called Satan, Devil, dragon, that old serpent, and other things. Secondly, The adversary walks to and fro in the earth causing turmoil, seeking whom he may devour. Thirdly, Satan will someday be cast into the Lake of Fire and Brimstone with his angels to be tormented day and night forever and ever.
(References: Ezekiel 28:12–19; 1 Peter 5:8; Revelation 12:9; 20:1–10.)
